Karate

The boys are taking a karate class for the next 6 weeks, thanks to a fundraiser at their school. The first class was this past Saturday - and I must say, I'm pretty impressed. They had such a great time and the instructors were really good with working with young children. And the best part are the super cute uniforms - they even earned their white belt on the first day.

Luke has quite a punch and a kick.

Ryan liked being able to perform for his instructor.

Their instructor - a 5th degree black belt master (not really sure what that means) told the kids that the most important thing about karate is learning how to treat everyone with respect, even your opponent. So their homework this week is to help their teachers at school and to practice saying "yes sir" and "yes ma'am." He also stressed that they need to learn how to focus their eyes, their ears and their minds - I've used the focus your ears line on Ryan some this week, and it actually works.
