Quick Update

I have had a work thing these last two days. I already dread going back in August. I missed the boys so much and I'm sure everyone I talked to was tired of hearing R and L stories. I'll be home the rest of this week and all of next, but then I go back to work for the school year :( The boys have been busy these past 2 days. Their Nana is here taking care of them and they love all of the attention and food that she gives them. L is on the verge of walking and R is trying so hard to talk. R woke up at 12:30 last night screaming. I tried ignoring him for a while, but he wouldn't stop. I brought him to bed with me around 1, but he started crawling around like a monkey, so he went back to his bed. He screamed for a little longer, but eventually went back to sleep. Somehow L is able to sleep through his screams, I wish I had that talent. Hopefully we'll all make it through the night and sleep until at least 8 in the morning (it has been known to happen before). I'll add some pictures later this week.

First Haircut

Today I decided that the boys really needed their hair cut. So while they were watching a video, I sat down behind them and trimmed the hair at the back of their necks and around the ears. It doesn't look great, but it also doesn't look awful. L has such curly hair, that I think it helped to take some of that curl off. I didn't save any of it. Partly because the amount I took off of L in particular was not worth saving, also because I think it is kinda creepy to save hair. What do you do with and what is the point?

The whole family also made a trip to Home Depot and Target this evening. R and L love to push the buttons on the TiVo, so G decided that he is going to try to do something about it. He bought a piece of plexi-glass and he is going to attempt to block the area off from the TiVo and DVD player. We'll see if it works. I wouldn't be surprised if the boys figure out how to get past that. Or, they will find something equally as destructive to get into.

Tonight at dinner R finally clapped his hands for the first time. L still hasn't done it, but he's been playing itsy-bitsy spider for a long time. We've been working on paddy-cakes for months, but they just kind of stare at us when we do it. For some reason, R started clapping his hands tonight, I attempted to get pictures of it.

Day at Home

Today R, L and myself spent most of the day at home. We did take a trip to Target, which is always fun for them. My first trip to the grocery store with just me and them was only a couple of weeks ago. The logistics have been the issue in the past. How do you put 2 babies in a grocery cart and put groceries in at the same time? However, Target has shopping carts where 2 babies can sit and leave the cart free for groceries. I have got to get a picture of us doing this, it is really quite funny. We also went out to dinner tonight. G and I wonder at what point will we no longer be a show for other people to watch because we have twin boys? We don't mind it too much, but it is nice to be able to go out and not be noticed all of the time.

One of R and L's favorite toys is their little tent. They love to open the door and crawl inside and out over and over again. Their favorite part of it is the doorbell. They will both hit it continiously in order to play the music and watch me and G dance (while they bounce up and down with us)

We also have a play room where the boys tear everything up every day. I put it back together each night and they go straight there in the morning and start throwing things around again. I think that if I just left it messy they wouldn't like it, they take great joy in tearing up a clean area. I've added a few more pictures below. They each are starting to ride their little horse some. They don't quite get how it works yet, but they are having fun just sitting on and letting me bounce them. I also added a picture of R and L and their favorite pet, Davis. They love to pet Davis and pull his hair out. So far, the cat has been very patient about this, he's only tried to bite one of them once (and they deserved it).

Bath time! L has the washcloth in his mouth and R loves to grab anything that he can get a hold of!

My First Post

I love to read everyone else's blogs, even people I don't know; however, I never thought that it would be necessary to create one for myself. But after reading some random person's blog about keeping the memories of their children, I thought that was something for me. I have almost 14 month old twin boys. I cannot believe how fast they have already grown and there is so much that they have done this past year that I have already forgotten about. So, my new misson is to record some of the memories. I have loved being home with them for the summer and I have a whole new appreciation for stay at home moms and also their babysitter. I dread going back to work in August and I wish I could stay home, but a part of me also misses what I can do at work and the adults and kids that I interact with at school (but if I had the option, I'd stay at home, at least for a little while).
Since there are so many memories from the past year, I'm going to start from this summer forward. R and L are on the move! They are both crawling and standing up on everything that they can get to. L has the funniest laugh, especially when he is up to something that he shouldn't be (he thinks everything is a game). L's laugh reminded me of a character, but I couldn't figure out who. My hub said that it is Ernie from Sesame Street and that is exactly who it is. When L is trying to outrun me, he giggles like Ernie and puts his head down and crawls as fast as he can. R is not as mischevious, but he is equally as destructive. They are both walking along furniture and they can even walk behind their wagon, but they're not on their own yet. They had their first sloppy joes tonight and they love them. We've had a hard time getting them to eat meat lately (all they want is fruit), but they do like sloppy joes. I can't stand the mess that food like that brings, so I spoon fed it myself to them. I don't know how you introduce utensils, but I'm not ready for that yet (I'm especially not ready to pick up utensils from the floor a dozen times each meal). They also are now crawling to the bathroom everytime they hear the bathtub water start. They both stand up and look over the edge to watch the water fill up. I sent pictures to family tonight of them doing this.
Considering this is my first post, I realize that it is random and rambling. But this blog is more for me to keep track of what and when R and L do new things. I hope to do better in the future!
